Thyssen finishes 2015 as nation's leader in triples

MEQUON, Wis. – According to the final NCAA Division III Baseball statistics, freshman Nathan Thyssen finished the 2015 season as the nation's leader in triples.

Thyssen (Appleton, Wis.) roped 11 triples in his rookie season with the Falcons. He had six of those during the Falcons spring trip in Arizona and tied the previous CUW single season record (seven) in the first 13 games of the season.

He would go on to set the CUW single season record on April 4 against Benedictine and would hit three more triples for his total of 11. That number was two more than three other players in Division III – Alex Cordova (UW-La Crosse), Max German (Penn-State Abignton) and Bobby Romano (Rutgers-Camden).

Thyssen's 11 triples also have him poised to become the CUW career leader. The current record is 14, which was set by Billy Bynum from 2003-06. Joel Sharon (Milwaukee, Wis.), who just wrapped up his Falcons career in 2015, is second all-time with 12 triples.

Thyssen was a Second Team All-NACC selection in 2015, as well as being named to the All-NACC Freshman Team.
