#CUWStatsInfo: A look inside Buuck's scoreless innings streak

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin freshman southpaw Carter Buuck has made an immediate impact in his rookie season on the mound. Buuck is 2-1 this season with a 0.58 ERA, allowing just two earned runs in 31 innings pitched.

Buuck (Hillsboro, Ore.) recently had a 28.1 scoreless innings streak snapped last Saturday in a start against Benedictine University. The freshman lasted until the fifth inning of his fourth collegiate start until finally giving up a run. CUWFalcons.com takes a look at some of numbers behind Buuck's 28.1 scoreless innings streak to start the season.

.083 – Buuck was dominant with runners on base, as opponents hit just .083 (3-for-36) in those situations. Leadoff hitters had the most success against Buuck, but were 7-for-29 (.241) in instances.

0.65 – Through his first four starts of the season, Buuck has posted a 0.65 WHIP (walks + hits per innings pitched). That number is tops in the NACC and also ranks 10th in all of Division III. Buuck walked just three batters during the 28.1 scoreless innings.

37 – Buuck gets most of his outs via groundouts. During the streak, the freshman recorded 37 outs on the ground, 28 via strikeout and 19 in the air.

9.67 – Another stat in which Buuck ranks nationally is his strikeout-to-walk ratio. He has a 9.67 strikeout-to-walk ratio, which is 29th best of all pitchers in Division III. That number also leads all pitchers in the NACC.

.090 – Left-handed batters struggle against the left-handed Buuck. In his first three starts against Carroll, Saint John's and Concordia Chicago; lefties hit just .090 (2-for-22). In a 2-0 win over Concordia Chicago, Buuck retired all 10 lefties he faced. Right-handed hitters didn't fiar much better, batting just .157 against Buuck this season.

Streaks like the one Buuck put together to start his college career are certainly rare. However, with some of the numbers above, one shouldn't be surprised if the southpaw has multiple double-digit scoreless innings streak over his career with the Falcons.
