Buuck named to ABCA Midwest All-Region Third Team

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin freshman pitcher Carter Buuck was named to the ABCA All-Midwest Region Third Team following an impressive season, the organization announced on Wednesday.

Buuck (Hillsboro, Ore.), who was named the NACC Freshman of the Year for his efforts on the mound this season, had an impressive year for the Falcons. The southpaw ranked eighth nationally in allowing 5.51 hits per nine innings pitched, while ranking 24th with a 1.55 ERA. His ERA also ranked first in the conference this season, while his 57 strikeouts were second in the NACC.

Buuck began his freshman campaign with an impressive 28.1 scoreless innings streak, which included starts against NCAA Division III Tournament teams, Saint John's (Minn.) and Concordia Chicago. The freshman allowed two earned runs or fewer in eight of nine starts this season. His best game of the season came against eventual NACC Champion Concordia Chicago. Back on March 28, Buuck went the distance against the Cougars, allowing just three hits, while striking out 10 batters.

He was twice named the NACC Pitcher of the Week, collecting the honors in the first two weeks of the Falcons season (March 23 and 30).

Buuck was one of eight players from the NACC to earn All-Midwest Region honors. The league had three players garner First Team selections in Concordia Chicago's Carlos Olavarria (OF) and Cody Caballero (P), as well as Edgewood's Zack Crookmore (2B). Tony Grannis (3B) of Marian was named to the Second Team, while Tanner Oymaian (SS – Aurora), Aaron Roesseler (SS – Wisconsin Lutheran) and Tim Hendricks (OF- Benedictine) joined Buuck on the Third Team.
