Preview: Women's Track & Field ready for NACC Indoor Championships

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Track & Field team will take part in the 2017 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Indoor Championships this Saturday. The meet will be held at Carthage College, beginning at 11 a.m.

CUWFalcons.com gets you ready for the NACC Indoor Championships, an event the Falcons have had much success at in the 11-year history of the league.

NACC INDOOR HISTORY: The Falcons captured the first three women's championships, winning titles in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Only three teams have captured championships on the women's side, with Aurora winning five total, all coming in the last six years. Concordia Chicago won the other two titles (2010, 2012).

SCHOOL RECORDS: The Falcons have had a fairly successful indoor season thus far. Two school records have fallen, including Irene Bolis in the 55-meter hurdles. Bolis ran 9.46 at the Tadd Metzger Invitational on January 27, 2017.

The other school record to fall was the 4X200-meter relay on February 4 at the Grinnell College Invite. Bolis was also a part of that and was joined by Jennifer Miller, Morgan Marnholtz, and Colleen Sauvey.

LAST SEASON: CUW finished second at the NACC Indoor Championships a season ago, finishing the meet with 157 points. Aurora captured a fourth-consecutive title, scoring 207 points. Aurora enters this year's meet ranked 18th nationally and is once again the favorite.

CUW was led by 2016 senior Karli Tatum, who was honored as the Field Athlete of the Meet. Tatum won both the weight throw and shot put. In addition, CUW received championships from Nicole Larson (Pole Vault), Ariel Kinlow (55-meter dash), and Cassandra Sprotte (800). Only Sprotte returns this season.

POLE VAULT: Expect the Falcons to rack up the points in the pole vault on Saturday. CUW currently has four of the top five heights in the event in the NACC this season, led by Jennifer Miller, who cleared 3.40 meters last weekend at UW-Oshkosh.
