Sprotte, Kilgas set school records at Augustana meet

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Cassandra Sprotte and Moira Kilgas set school records to help pace the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Track & Field team at the Augustana Viking Invitational Friday. The Falcons finished seventh as a team, as Sprotte and Colleen Sauvey won events to lead the way.

THE BASICS
- Falcons Finish: 7th of 10 (72.5 points)

- School Records: Sprotte (1,500); Kilgas (100-meter hurdles)
- Individual Champions: Sprotte (1,500); Sauvey (Hammer Throw)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sprotte (Abbotsford, Wis.) took down Amanda Kuca's record in the 1,500-meter run, finishing the race in a time of 4:35.32. Kuca's record came during the 2006 season when she ran a 4:36.86. Sprotte won the race which featured 35 runners, while Paulina Agnello (Brookfield, Wis.) finished fifth with a time of 5:01.34.

- Kilgas (Omro, Wis.) broke her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles. She ran a time of 16.60, which bested her previous best of 16.62.

- Sauvey (De Pere, Wis.) continues to impress in the hammer throw. After setting a school record last weekend with a toss of 49.53 meters, she topped a field of 30 this weekend by landing a throw of 49.27 meters.

- Nora Imperl (Greenfield, Wis.) gained a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Imperl finished the race with a time of 11:23.87. Also on the track, the Falcons 4X100-meter relay team (Jennifer Miller, Tristiana March, Irene Bolis, Sauvey) finished third with a time of 50.45, missing the school record by .04 seconds.

- The Falcons had a pair of top-five finishes in the pole vault Friday. Miller (Freedom, Wis.) placed fourth by clearing 3.32 meters. Ariana Koehler (Lake Geneva, Wis.) also cleared 3.32 meters and placed fifth in the event.

- Nicole Veldhorst (Cedar Grove, Wis.) finished fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.45 meters.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons have one more meet on the schedule before the NACC Outdoor Championships in two weeks. CUW is scheduled to compete at the St. Norbert Quadrangular next Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m.
