Records Fall for CUW Women at the NACC Championships

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's tracks & field team saw records fall on Saturday at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Falcons finished in third place with 145.83 points. The Blue and White saw school records fall in the 4 x 100-meter relay and in the 100-meter dash. The Falcons won eight medals and won event on Saturday to finish with four victories and 14 medals.

The Falcons opened the track on Saturday with a record-breaking performance in the 4 x 100-meter relay. The team of junior Maya Hielscher (Macomb, Mich.), senior Jenna Zahorik (Reedsville, Wis.), freshman Emma Eilertson (Mukwonago, Wis.) and senior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.) broke the school record at 48.66 to claim the goal medals.

The Falcons won a pair of medals in the long jump pit on Saturday. Sabrina Moore secured the silver medal at 5.18 meters. Maya Hielscher won the bronze medal at 5.18 meters.

Emma Eilertson snagged the silver medal in the high jump competition at 1.56 meters. Maya Hielscher finished in sixth place at 1.51 meters.

Maya Hielscher added to her medal collection with a bronze medal in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.09.

The 100-meter dash saw Jenna Zahorik once again break the school record and claim the silver medal at 12.28. Sabrina Moore crossed the finish line at 12.39 in fifth place.

Zahorik earned another medal in the 200-meter dash finals in second place at 25.73 and Sabrina Moore secured a sixth-place time of 26.97.

Freshman Emma Ahrens (Stephens City, Va.) captured the bronze medal in the 5000-meter run at 18:57.84. Senior Anessa Yim (Spokane, Wash.) earned five points in fourth place at 19:00.52, Sophomore Ainara Sainz De Rozas (Madrid, Spain) was sixth at 19:09.11. Freshman Bailee Schlender (Brillion, Wis.) secured 14th place at 20:50.18 and freshman Abigail Lange (Pleasant Prairie, Wis.) was 16th at 21:10.00.

Sophomore Melanie Arvis (Berwyn, Ill.) led the flock in the 1500-meter run in sixth place at 4:54.63. Annessa Yim was ninth at 5:00.88 and freshman Sydney Lechisin (Turtle Lake, Wis.) was 16th at 5:39.09.

In the 800-meter run, sophomore Danielle Van Grinsven (Appleton, Wis.) recorded a sixth-place finish at 2:25.84.

CUW sent two to the finals in the 400-meter hurdles on Saturday. Freshman Olivia Ebel (Mt. Clemens, Mich.) led the CUW times in fifth place at 1:09.36 and Emma Eilertson was ninth at 1:15.82.

Sophomore Elizabeth Van Rixel (Athens, Wis.) led the Falcons in the heptathlon in ninth place with 2658 points. Senior Kaitlynn Sabish (Campbellsport, Wis.) was 12th at 1678 points.

Five Falcons competed in the hammer throw. Senior Morgan Huntley (Hillsboro, Wis.) led the flock in 13th place at 35.01 meters. Freshman Morgan Feuker (Mount Pleasant, Wis.) was 15th at 32.69 meters, freshman Bryanna Mursch (Grafton, Wis.) was 18th at 32.69 meters, senior Jamie Maas (West Bend, Wis.) was 21st at 28.23 meters and sophomore Kailey Ramaker (Cedarburg, Wis.) was 22nd at 25.99 meters.

CUW also had five compete in the shot put competition. Freshman Paige Schreiber (Dousman, Wis.) led the attack in 10th place with a mark of 11.10 meters. Morgan Feuker finished 13th at 10.05 meters just ahead of Morgan Huntley in 14th place at 9.94 meters. Jamie Maas recorded a mark of 9.57 meters and Kailey Ramaker was 19th at 9.11 meters.

The Falcons closed the competition in the 4 x 400-meter relay in sixth place. The team of Olivia Ebel, freshman Mikayla Becker (Plantation, Fla.), Melanie Arvis and Danielle Van Grinsven finished ar 4:20.11.

For her performance, Maya Hielscher was awarded as the NACC Field Athlete of the Meet. Anessa Yim was announced as the NACC Track Athlete of the Meet, but the NACC has reached out saying that there was a counting error. This is the fifth time a Falcon has been the NACC Track Athlete of the Meet.

The Falcons close the team portion of the 2024 season at the NACC Championships. Individuals can now compete in last-chance meets.
