Wrestling competes at challenging Willie Meyers Open

WHITEWATER, Wis. – Mitchell Slatton ended with a fourth-place finish to lead Concordia Wisconsin at the challenging Willie Meyers Open, hosted by UW-Whitewater, on Saturday inside Kachel Fieldhouse.

Falcon Individual Placers: Mitchell Slatton (184 pounds) fourth place

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior Mitchell Slatton (Granger, Ind.) again had a solid day on the mat, walking away with a fourth-place finish to his credit. The 184-pounder was 3-2 on the day and had two victories by fall. He began by pinning Scott Anderson (Harper) in just 21 seconds before earning a 6-3 decision over Nick Sundberg (UW-Whitewater). Slatton than was pinned prior to defeating David Cushing (North Central) with a pin in 40 seconds. He ended his day with a decision loss to take fourth place.
- Junior Miguel Betancourt (El Paso, Texas) won a pair of matches, including an 18-0 technical fall bout against Kyle Meyers (North Central).
- Senior Mac Braylock (Marietta, Ga.) tallied two wins on the day, with one being a pin in 3:50 against Max Jordan (Harper).  

BEYOND THE RESULTS
- Slatton's pins in 21 and 41 seconds were the third and fourth fastest at the tournament.

- Concordia Wisconsin travels to the difficult two-day Pete Willson Invitational, hosted by Wheaton College.
