Vasquez named CCIW Wrestler of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Concordia Wisconsin's Ramiro Vasquez has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Wrestler of the Week after going 4-0 in dual meets, the league office announced.

Vasquez, a sophomore from Yuma, Ariz., went 4-0 at 133 pounds last week with three technical falls and one major decision. On Friday, he defeated MSOE's Preston Makoutz by technical fall, winning 16-0 in the second period. On Saturday, he beat Dubuque's Amad Willis by technical fall and clinched the 25-24 victory for his team with a 19-4 win. Vasquez then defeated Wheaton's Josiah Fitzjerrels by a 16-1 technical fall and finished the weekend with a 14-2 major decision over Nebraska Wesleyan's Brayden Downing.

The conference weekly honor is the first of his career.
