Mitchell Slatton leads Falcons with a 3-2 record at 25th Annual CUW Open

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin hosted the 25th Annual CUW Open and were led by senior Mitchell Slatton, who finished with a 3-2 record on the day. The Falcons also had three wrestlers post two wins.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Slatton (Granger, Ind.) posted a strong day for the Falcons in the 184-weight bracket, as he was able to advance all the way to the 7th place match. Slatton advanced by the way of pin fall in two minutes and 50 seconds but unfortunately, fell due to a 5-3 decision in the following quarterfinals match.
- CUW had a trio of wrestlers finish with two wins as Bentancourt (El Paso, Texas), Montbriand (Barlett, Ill.), and O'Donnell (Huntington Beach, Calif.) all posted 2-2 records. Bentancourt was able to advance into the quarterfinals with a 2-0 match decision before being eliminated.
- Montbriand was able to advance into the second round on Saturday, with a 3-0 decision before falling in a tough 6-5 decision in an attempt to make a quarterfinals appearance. O'Donnell fell victim to a pin fall in his first match, but rebounded nicely by winning his next match with an 8-5 decision before being eliminated.
