MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – The CUW ACHA team finished the best season in program history on Sunday morning with an 8-0 victory over Dakota College.

The Falcons took on their final Pool B opponent in Dakota College aiming for that coveted spot in the ACHA Division II National Tournament Semifinals.

The Blue and White scored three goals in each of the first two periods and two goals in the third period.

Senior Alex Way (Ottawa, Ont.) lit the lamp for the birds with an assist from fellow senior Lucas Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.). Senior Rex Staudacher followed that up with a goal off a pass from fellow senior Michael Fradette (Victoria, B.C.). Sophomore Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.) netted the final Falcon goal of the period with an assist from senior Lucas Hefty (Oregon, Wis.).

The second period got moving with a goal by senior Scott Gregor (Ashland, Wis.). Gregor was assisted by junior John Swiatek (Rochester, N.Y.) and Garrett Wilderman. Wilderman sank his second goal of the game on a short-handed breakaway with an assist from sophomore Nolan Judge (Glendale, Ariz.). Senior Sam Weiss (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) ended the period with a goal off assists from senior Jacob Palmerio (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) and junior Ian Malcolmson (Waukesha, Wis.).

Garrett Wilderman recorded a hat trick with a period-opening goal off assists from Hefty and Gregor.

Kreuser finished the game off with a goal off a pass from Palmerio.

The Blue and White finish the season with a record of 32-8-1 including a regular-season, conference record of 10-0, a home record of 14-0-1, and a conference regular-season title.

Malcolmson was named the National Player of the Year as well as Central Region Player of the Year, All-Athletic First team nomination, and All-Region First team. Way was also named to the All-Region First Team.

The two ACHA National victories are the most in program history after the Falcons cooked through the Regional tournament.
