Falcons Fall in Final Period

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The CUW ACHA team competed in the NCHL Tournament Championship.

The Falcons struck first in the first period with a goal from senior Scott Gregor (Ashland, Wis.) which was assisted by seniors Lucas Hefty (Oregon, Wis.) and Sam Weiss (Glen Ellyn, Ill.).

The Blue Demons took a 2-1 lead heading into the second period.

The Blue and White netted three goals in the third period the first of which came off the stick of senior Jacob Palmerio (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) and was assisted by senior Alex Way (Ottawa, Ont.) and junior Ian Malcolmson (Waukesha, Wis.) on the powerplay.  Senior Rex Staudacher (Yorkville, Ill.) netted his first goal of the matchup with an assist from senior Lucas Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.).  The final Falcon goal of the matchup was netted by Malcolmson with an assist from Way.

The Blue and White held a 4-2 lead going into the final frame.

The Blue Demons cracked off for four goals in the third period to seal their NCHL Tournament Championship with a final score of 6-4.

Senior Mack Willy (Tacoma, Wash.) recorded 31 saves on the afternoon.

The Falcons await the final regional rankings in hopes of maintaining their claim to the No. 2 spot and an automatic bid to the ACHA Division II National Tournament.
