Falcons Sweep Series with Spartans

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW ACHA team took on the Aurora Spartans inside the Ozaukee Ice Center on Saturday night.

The Falcons remained not only perfect at home but perfect in NCHL matchups as well.

The Blue and White opened the matchup with a goal just over one minute in off the stick of junior Ian Malcolmson (Waukesha, Wis.).  Malcolmson was assisted by senior Jacob Palmerio (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.).

Senior Michael Fradette (Victoria, B.C.) netted a goal off an assist from sophomore Tommy Cassel (Grafton, Wis.) for the second, and winning, Falcon goal of the night.

Senior Sam Weiss (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) netted the final goal of the period off an assist from senior Thomas Dyball (Papillion, Neb.).

Senior Alex Way (Ottawa, Ont.) got the ball rolling in the second period off a pass from Malcolmson.

Sophomores Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.) and Nolan Judge (Glendale, Ariz.) found senior Scott Gregor (Ashland, Wis.) for his first goal of the night just over four minutes into the second period.

Palmerio netted his first goal of the matchup off assists from Malcolmson and senior Wyatt Wilderman (Bear Dance, Mont.).  Four minutes later, Garrett Wilderman recorded back-to-back goals with just 24 seconds in between.  Senior Rex Staudacher (Yorkville, Ill.) assisted on the first and Scott Gregor assisted on the second goal.

The Falcons went into the third period with an 8-0 lead.

The Spartans scored their only goal three minutes into the final frame.

After a five-minute major penalty, Palmerio netted a short-handed goal with assists from Cassel and Judge.  Palmerio scored another goal assisted once again by Cassel five minutes later for the 10th Falcon goal.

The Final goal came from Alex Way.  He was assisted by Sam Weiss as well as a rare goalie assist from senior Mack Willy (Tacoma, Wash.).

Willy recorded 21 saves in his 54:03 between the posts.

The Blue and White head to Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Friday for a pair of matchups on the road.
