Triathlon opens year in Wisconsin

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. – The CUW triathlon team opened the 2019 season with a fifth-place finish at the Women's Collegiate Triathlon Central Regional Qualifier on Sunday. The Falcons finished with 48 points. North Central won the day with 11 points.

Freshman Janneke Bannink (Shorewood, Wis.) led the Falcons with a time of 1:15:24.45 in 12th place. She held the fastest CUW times of the day in the swim at 12:03 and bike at 35:38.06.

In 17th place was sophomore Aimee Uebersetzig (El Cajon, Calif.) at 1:18:27.44. She had the fastest CUW run time at 23:46.30.

Junior Frances Jensen (Muskego, Wis.) and senior Meghan Klement (Muskego, Wis.) finished back-to-back in 27th and 28th place. Jensen clocked in at 1:28:32.67 and Klement crossed the finish line at 1:31:25.09.

Freshman Anna Scholer (Carmel, Ind.) completed the swim at 17:02.24, as did junior Kayla Mankel (Kenosha, Wis.) at 20:04.44 and sophomore Stephanie Lindner (Mukwonago, Wis.) at 22:08.03.

The Falcons return to action on Sept. 14 at Trine.
