Records Fall at Ripon

RIPON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's track & field team had a record-breaking day at the Ripon Red Hawk Invitational on Saturday. The Falcons placed sixth as a team with 38 points. The Titans of Wisconsin-Oshkosh won with 159 points.

Sophomore Maya Hielscher (Macomb, Mich.) finished second in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.31 breaking the school record. She also placed fourth in the high jump at 1.53 meters. Freshman Amelia Wiener (North Fond Du lac, Wis.) earned a point in eighth place at 1.38 meters.

The Falcons finished fourth in the 4x200 meter relay on Saturday at 1:54.96. The Blue and White also finished seventh in the 4x400 meter relay at 4:33.51.

In the 800-meter run, freshman Danielle Van Grinsven (Appleton, Wis.) placed fifth at 2:32.37.

Freshman Melanie Arvis (Berwyn, Ill.) recorded a time of 5:24.65 in the mile run in sixth place. Just ahead of Anessa Yim at 5:31.51 in eighth place.

Pole vault saw freshman Carly Griesemer (Slinger, Wis.) place seventh at 3.05 meters.

Senior Jenna Zahorik (Reedsville, Wis.) secured a seventh-place time in the 200-meter dash at 27.24.

Senior Micah Hill (Camdenton, Mo.) led the flock in the 5000-meter run at 20:51.04 in seventh place.

Freshman Kaitlyn Kotula was eighth in the triple jump at 9.70 meters.

Sophomore Kalleigh Thorne (Bonduel, Wis.) reached 4.60 meters in the long jump in 10th place.

Freshman Maria Betancourt (Hialeah, Fla.) reached 12.03 meters in the weight throw in 14th place. She also led CUW in the shot put at 9.33 meters in 16th place.

Freshman Amber Fietzer (Manawa, Wis.) led CUW in the 400-meter dash at 1:09.71 in 22nd place.

CUW competes again on Feb. 18 at Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
