Falcons Run at Ripon

RIPON, Wis. – The CUW women's track and field team competed Saturday, at the Ripon Winter Open Invite, at Ripon College.

The Falcons took seventh place with a team score of 28.5 points, while the Titans of Wisconsin-Oshkosh claimed first.

In the 200 meter-dash, senior Jenna Zahorik (Reedsville, Wis.) placed ninth with a time of 27.34.

In the 800 meter-run, junior Naomi Gahan (Cedarburg, Wis.) placed eighth with a time of 2:40.34, while junior Sarah Birenhaum (Plymouth, Wis.) placed 10th with 2:46.78.

Sophomore Maya Hielscher (Macomb, Mich.) finished second in the pentathlon. She finished first in the long jump with a distance of 5.72 meters, second in the 60 meter-dash with a time of 9.5 seconds, fourth in shot-put with a throw of 8.09 meters, fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:01.58, and sixth in the high jump, clearing 1.54 meters.

Two falcons placed in the high jump. Senior Lauren Nemitz (Wauwatosa, Wis.) placed fifth, clearing a height of 1.54 meters, while freshman Amelia Wiener (North Fond du Lac, Wis.) placed 10th, clearing a height of 1.40 meters.

In the long jump, senior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge Ill.) placed seventh with a leap of 4.62 meters, while Amelia Wiener placed 15th with a distance of 3.99 meters.

In the triple jump, sophomore Kalleigh Schroeder (Bonduel, Wis.) placed fifth place with a distance of 9.28 meters. Meanwhile, freshman Amber Fietzer (Manawa, Wis.) placed 7th with 8.79 meters, and senior Paige Winterfield (Roseville, Minn.) finished 8th with 8.78 meters.

Concordia had two participants in the top t10 for the pole vault. Senior Paige Winterfeldt and freshman Carly Giesemer (Slinger, Wis.) placed 9th and 10th, both with a clearance of 2.73 meters.

The women's team will resume competition, on January 14th, at the forward Carthage Firebird Opener.
