Falcons Start the Shamrock Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's track & field teams started the outdoor season on Friday at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational in a loaded field with student-athletes from NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and Canada. Coastal Carolina leads the competition with 16 points.

The Falcons shined in the 400-meter dash on Friday. Junior Madison Chiappetta (Lenexa, Kan.) finished ninth at 1:06.54. Freshman Kalleigh Schroeder (Bonduel, Wis.) finished in 13th place at 1:07.35.

Junior Jenna Zahorik (Reedsville, Wis.) clocked in at 13.14 in the 100-meter dash in 13th place.

The birds blasted a time of 1:59.26 in the 4x200 meter relay. The team of Jenna Zahorik, junior Hannah Ebel (Mount Clemens, Mich.), sophomore Aubrey Thiede (Slinger, Wis.) and junior Kaitlynn Sabish (Campbellsport, Wis.) finished in 13th place.

CUW took 18th in the 4x800-meter relay on Friday. The team of junior Lindsay Pluister (Woodridge, Ill.), Madison Chiappetta, sophomore Anessa Yim (Spokane, Wash.) and Kalleigh Schroeder finished at 11:16.71.

Hannah Ebel earned a 23rd place finish in the 100-meter hurdles at 16.68. Junior Sadie Silva (Plymouth, Calif.) finished in 46th place at 20.63.

Sophomore Catherine Romine (Whitmore Lake, Mich.) collected a 57th-place finish in the long jump at 4.21 meters.

CUW closes the competition on Saturday.
