Women’s Track & Field Opens NACC Indoor Championships

RIPON, Wis. – The CUW women's track & field team opened the competition at the 2022 NACC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday. The Falcons are in fifth place with 19 points. St. Norbert leads with 91 points.

Sophomore Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) secured the bronze medal in the long jump with a mark of 5.08 meters.

Junior Paige Winterfeldt (Roseville, Minn.) finished fourth in the pole vault at 3.05 meters.

The team of junior MaryGrace Cleinmark (Danvers, Ill.), junior Lindsay Pluister (Woodridge, Ill.), sophomore Naomi Gahan (Cedarburg, Wis.) and senior LaNea Bartel (Kewanee, Wis.) finished fifth in the distance medley relay at 13:26.39.

Junior Sadie Silva (Plymouth, Wis.) broke the school record in the pentathlon with 2447 points. Defeating former coach, Samantha Bloxdorf (Stark) record that has stood since 2009.

Junior Micah Hill (Camdenton, Mo.) led the flock in the 5000-meter run in 10th place at 20:55.50.

Sophomore Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.) qualified for the 60-meter dash finals in seventh place with a time of 8.29. Junior Jenna Zahorik (Reedsville, Wis.) just missed qualifying in ninth place at 8.35

In the 60-meter hurdles, junior Hannah Ebel (Mount Clemens, Mich.) qualified in eighth place at 9.99. Freshman Maya Hielscher (Macomb, Mich.) returned by just missing the cut in ninth place at 10.18.

The Falcons close the competition on Saturday.
