TABBY ORTIZ POSTMATCH

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Carroll (Mundelein, Ill.) picked a good time for her first goal of the season, striking in the fifth minute. Freshman Alexandra Tomich (Mission Viejo, Calif.) sent a cross into the box and Carroll was able to get possession and finish for the 1-0 lead.

- Each goalkeeper made three saves in the opening half. Ortiz (Plainfield, Ill.) was matched up Jessica Galason of the Titans, and both had some strong saves on Sunday.

- The Titans had a few good scoring chances in the opening half, including a ball that hit the post. The Falcons also placed a few solid chances the rest of the way, but couldn't find that insurance goal.

- In the second half, Ortiz once again stood out with three more saves for another shutout for the senior keeper. Galason also posted three saves in the second half.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons honored five seniors at halftime – Ortiz, Breanne Thomas, McKenna Kowalski, Rachel Suarez, and Mikayla Ross. The five have been a part of 41 wins and a 2015 conference championship over the past four years.

- Matt Menzl, who called the match Sunday on the Falcon Athletic Network, provided the Stat of the Day as well. The Falcons have now won three straight matches at home against the Titans, all by a 1-0 score.

- Ortiz now has five shutouts this season and 13 in her career.

UP NEXT
- CUW closes the regular season Wednesday at Alverno at 3 p.m. The Falcons are very likely to host a first-round NACC match next Sunday as well, at a time to be determined.
