Women's Soccer slated fifth in NACC preseason poll

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Soccer team was picked to finish fifth in the NACC this season, according to the preseason poll voted on by the leagues head coaches and sports information directors.

The Falcons are coming off a 5-11-1 season, including a 5-4-1 mark in conference play. CUW just missed out on the league tournament last year and will look to rebound this fall. The Falcons rolled to a conference title in 2015, posting a 10-0 league record. CUW was one of four teams to receive a first-place vote in the preseason poll, picking up two.

MSOE was picked to repeat as NACC Champions after posting a 10-0 league record last season. The Raiders received 14 first-place votes and 226 poll points. Dominican garnered four first-place votes and 209 points, slotted second in the poll. Aurora tallied two first-place votes and 186 points, being predicted third.

Edgewood (169) was slotted fourth just ahead of the Falcons, who gained the final two first-place votes and 164 poll points. Benedictine (145) was picked sixth, followed by Concordia Chicago (125) and Marian (91).

Wisconsin Lutheran (59), Alverno (44), and Lakeland (34) rounded out the poll.

CUW will open its season next Friday, September 1 with a neutral site non-conference match against Concordia Ann Arbor. The Falcons open NACC play Wednesday, September 20 at home against Marian.
