Falcons Take Part in Midwest Region Classic

KANSASVILLE, Wis. - The CUW women's golf team competed in the Midwest Region Classic hosted by Benedictine University.

The Falcons finished with a total of 804 strokes and sat in 19th place for the two-day tournament.  Aurora led the tournament with 634 total strokes.

Junior Rebecca Curley (Winthrop Harbor, Ill.) led the flock with 172 total strokes.  Day one saw a 17-over-par finish with 89 total strokes.  Curley was able to cut her score down by six strokes on day two with an 11-over-par finish and 83 strokes.  She sunk a birdie on the par-three, 14th hole on day two.

Sophomore Elizabeth Montaba (Elkhart Lake, Wis.) recorded a two-day score of 177 after shaving three strokes off of her first-day score of 90 strokes.  Montaba sank two birdies on day two with one on the par-three, third hole and one on the par-five, 13th hole.

Third place for the Blue and White was freshman Shauna Grahn (New Berlin, Wis.).  Grahn cut off one stroke from day one to day two and finished with 221 total strokes.  

Sophomore Kaylee McCarty (Adell, Wis.) recorded a total score of 234 strokes with 115 coming on day one. 

Rounding out the Falcon squad was freshman Kadan LaFond (Waterford, Wis.) who played in her first stroke-play event for the Blue and White.  LaFond finished with 260 total strokes after tying Curley for the largest stroke cut-off with six coming out of day two.  

The Blue and White prepare for NACC Championships over the next two weekends first in Rockford, Ill. this upcoming weekend and in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin the next weekend.
