Women's Basketball selected second in NACC Preseason Poll

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin was selected to finish second in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Preseason Poll on Tuesday, as voted on by the league's head coaches and athletic communicators.

CUW received 249 points overall, while Wisconsin Lutheran College was chosen to win the conference for the fifth-straight season after receiving 288 points and all 24 first-place votes.

The Falcons concluded the 2013-14 season with a 22-5 overall record and a 17-3 record in NACC play. They advanced to the NACC Tournament semifinals for the eighth-consecutive season. A year ago, CUW led the NACC in field goals made per game (26.4) and fewest turnovers per game (13.2), which also ranked ninth in the nation.

Edgewood College was tabbed to finish third with 220 points, while Benedictine University was fourth with 217 points, MSOE fifth with 199 points and Aurora University sixth at 177 points. Lakeland College was tabbed seventh at 124 points, Alverno College eighth at 114 points and Marian University ninth at 111 points. Rockford University (84), Concordia University Chicago (55) and Dominican University (34) rounded out the final three spots in the poll.

The NACC's regular season standings determine the teams that qualify for the eight-team conference tournament, while the tournament champion receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
