
Men's Volleyball Soared to New Heights in 2023
MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's volleyball team reached new heights in 2023. The Falcons broke their program record for wins in a single season with a 15-10 record and a 9-3 record within the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC).
Concordia feared no one and faced four ranked opponents in non-conference play.
The Falcons posted a fantastic season within the NACC and had their highest finish in program history at 9-3 in third place.
CUW also claimed the first-ever Highway 57 Cup in March with a 3-0 victory at Lakeland.
With the third-place finish, CUW hosted its first-ever NACC Tournament home match, where they hosted Dominican in a five-set thriller.
The Falcons claimed many honors for their performances this season.
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced junior Spencer Herman to the AVCA All-West Region Team and freshman Ben Kayser as the AVCA West Region Newcomer of the Year. Herman was also named the AVCA National Player of the Week in March.
Within the NACC, Spencer Herman and sophomore Lucas Beres were voted to the All-NACC First Team. Ben Kayser was voted to the All-NACC Second Team and the NACC Freshman of the Year. Spencer Herman and Lucas Beres were also voted as the NACC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.
Concordia also soared in the classroom in 2023. The Falcons claimed the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award. Senior Any Ellingham was also voted as a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American. The first CUW student-athlete to claim the honor in the at-large program.
The Falcons look to soar again in 2024.
