MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's volleyball team completed a busy week of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons picked up a 25-15, 25-17, 25-16 victory to improve to 14-8 on the year and to 8-2 in the NACC and hold onto their third-place position.
The Falcons opened the match on a 5-0 run behind the serve of sophomore Logan Kebisek (Brookfield, Wis.). The Falcons never looked back and lifted the lead to 21-9 with a kill from freshman Will Wood (Savage, Minn.). A kill from freshman Ben Kayser (Milwaukee, Wis.) closed the set at 25-15. Junior Spencer Herman (Kimberly, Wis.) had four kills in the first set.
The Warriors fought had to start the second set and trimmed the CUW lead to 10-9. The birds won the next three points and then never allowed WLC to get closer than three points the rest of the way. Logan Kebisek reached the 1500 assist plateau in the set.
The Green and White jumped out to an early 7-2 lead in the third set. The Falcons quickly flipped the script on the Warriors and used an 11-2 run to take the lead at 13-9 off s service ace to Ben Kayser. The Warriors cut the CUW lead to 13-11, but the Falcons won the next six points behind the serve of Chase Ammons. At 22-14, sophomore Lucas Beres (Germantown, Wis.) notched a solo block to break the program record for solo blocks in a single season.
Spencer Herman finished with a match-high nine kills.
Lucas Beres finished with six blocks, and four service aces to lead the birds.
Logan Kebisek dished out 27 assists in the victory.
The Falcons return to play on Thursday against St. Norbert. If the Falcons win, they clinch a spot in the NACC Tournament and at worst the third seed in the tournament.
