Men's Basketball Beat at the Buzzer

LILSE, Ill. – The heartbreaking season continued for the CUW men's basketball team on Saturday afternoon. Benedictine sank a buzzer-beating shot to down the Falcons 67-65 and eliminate them from NACC Tournament contention.

Benedictine jumped out to an early 11-5 run to start the game on Saturday. The Falcons stormed back and took the lead with a second-chance layup from junior Freeman Jackson (Green Bay, Wis.).

Neither team was able to grow a lead bigger than four points and CUW held a 32-29 lead at halftime.

Senior Grant Karsten (Decatur, Ill.) sank a jump shot to put the Falcons up 63-51 with 5:30 left.

The Eagles closed the game on a 16-2 run and held the Falcons without a field goal in the stretch. A buzzer-beating basket broke the tie and gave Benedictine the victory.

Senior Jared Jurss (Sheboygan, Wis.) led the CUW offensive attack with 14 points and five assists.

Senior Gabe Pruss (North Fond Du Lac, Wis.) notched a double-double performance with 13 rebounds and 11 points. He also had both of the Falcons' blocks.

Freeman Jackson finished with 12 points.

CUW returns to action on Saturday for senior day against Edgewood.
