Falcons Snagged by Scots in Opening Round

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The CUW men's basketball team competed in the opening round of the Daytona Beach Shootout on Wednesday evening.

The opening round saw the Falcons pitted against the Scots of Maryville College (Tenn.).

The Blue and White opened the first half with a two-point lead at 40-38 heading into halftime.  The flock was led by senior Grant Karsten (Decatur, Ill.) with 14 points.  Senior Freeman Jackson (Green Bay, Wis.) was close behind with 13 points. 

The Scots snagged a 10-point victory at 85-75 with a 47-point second half.

The Falcons netted 35 points in the second half with Karsten recording 11 of the 35 points.

The Decatur senior led the matchup with 25 total points.  He added four rebounds and one steal. 

Jackson finished with 19 points and added five rebounds, four assists, and three steals to his total.

Freshman Jack Fritz (Columbus, Wis.) led the Falcon bench with six points. 

The Blue and White finish the 2022 Daytona Beach Shootout with a matchup against Muskingum on Thursday evening.
