CHICAGO, Ill. – The CUW men's basketball team hit a road bump on Saturday afternoon at Illinois Tech. The Scarlet Hawks defended their home court with an 82-70 victory on Saturday.
The Falcons took an early lead on Saturday and a layup from senior Gabe Pruss (North Fond Du Lac, Wis.) elevated the lead to 11-7. This turned out to be the biggest lead of the day for the Falcons.
The Scarlet Hawks stormed back and had a 46-35 lead with 1:36 left in the first half.
A layup from Pruss cut the deficit to 46-37 at halftime.
The Falcons held a 28-8 advantage in points in the paint in the first half.
Illinois Tech sank 10 three-point baskets in the first half.
The Scarlet Hawks held a 20-8 run in the first eight minutes of the second half to take a 66-45 lead. The Falcons continued to fight and cut the IIT lead to 10 points on four separate occasions.
Gabe Pruss led the CUW offense with 18 points.
The duo of junior Freeman Jackson (Green Bay, Wis.) and senior Jared Jurss (Sheboygan, Wis.) both finished with 15 points each.
The Falcons return to action on Tuesday at Wisconsin-Platteville.
