Esports Continues Strong Season

MEQUON, Wis. – "All teams are currently playing well and improving," said head esports coach Jack Slater, following his team's solid week, as the CUW esports program went 5-3 across six games.

Monday saw the Esports program win 2-0 in three different matches. Valorant kicked off the trio of sweeps with a 2-0 victory over UW-Green Bay to start Wisconsin Valorant Academic Circuit (WVAC) conference play.

The two other Monday wins came from CUW's Super Smash Bros Ultimate team, who made easy work of Stockton University and the University of Olivet, securing 2-0 wins in both matchups.

The Concordia Wisconsin Rainbow Six Siege team returned to action against the Illini of Illinois University on Tuesday, Oct. 17th. After dropping the first round, the Falcons took the second to force the game into a tiebreaker. Despite their efforts to complete the comeback, the University of Illinois would sneak away with the tiebreaker to take the 2-1 win.

The next day, the Britons of Albion College defeated the Blue and White's NBA 2K team on Wednesday, 3-1. Despite the loss, head coach Jack Slater said of his 2K team's performance, "2K has been especially fun to watch and grow into form. They are really starting to play well together."

But the Falcons would return to the win column on Thursday as the Valorant team defeated the Warhawks of UW-Whitewater, 2-0, to remain undefeated in conference play.

To close out their week, the esports program finished with a doubleheader on Friday, as the Rocket League team took on the Braves of Bradley and the Call of Duty team took on Keiser University. In their competitions, the esports program went 1-1, as Rocket League fell 0-3 to Bradley, while the Call of Duty team secured the 3-0 win over Keiser.

"I'm proud of the work that all of my players are putting in, and we're on course to have another successful season across all games," said Slater regarding the performance of his program's early season.

Esports will continue for the Falcons next week, as the League of Legends team and Overwatch will return from their bye week, while other squads will progress through their seasons.
