Esports Posts a Positive Record

MEQUON, Wis. – The first week of October saw CUW's esports team post a 4-3 record across five different games.

On Monday, the Falcons completed the sweep and secured two shutout wins in their Super Smash Bros Ultimate doubleheader as they defeated the Soaring Eagles of Elmira College and the Phoenix of Wilson College, both games ending 2-0 in CUW's favor.

Monday also saw the Valorant team be narrowly edged out by Clarke University, resulting in a 2-1 defeat.

The Super Smash Bros Ultimate squad continued their strong play on Tuesday by knocking out Wayne State College 2-0, bringing their weekly record to 3-0.

In Rainbow Six Siege's first competition of the week, the University of Windsor pulled away with a 2-1 win in three rounds of play.

Concordia's Call of Duty team earned their first win of the season on Friday when they made quick of the Rams from East Coast Polytechnic Institute. The Falcons emerged victory and won 3-0, marking their first clean sweep of the year.

The CUW esports team reached a significant milestone this week as they participated in their program's inaugural NBA 2K match. Despite their best efforts, the Blue and White lost 3-1.

Meanwhile, Overwatch, League of Legends, Halo, Rocket League, and Fortnite squads all had breaks but will resume action shortly.

"Another net positive week. Teams are constantly improving," said coach Jack Slater regarding his team's performance this week. "I really had a fun time with NBA 2K's first game. It's a new game for the university, and we dropped into a season with some very good and well-established teams. I'm looking forward to next week's matchups."

The Falcons will strive for another successful week, with a mix of teams returning to action while others will take a well-deserved break.
