Baseball Ends the Year with a Win

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons ended the season with a victory to finish the year to finish at 21-18 on the year and in a tie for sixth place in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference at 12-12. The Falcons missed the NACC Tournament due to a tiebreaker.

Benedictine struck first on Sunday with a two-run home run in the second inning.

The Falcons responded in the bottom half of the inning when sophomore Brynden Cleveland (Crestwood, Wis.) doubled into the gap in left-center field to score freshman Matt Miller (Fredonia, Wis.).

The Eagles scored the next three runs to push the lead up to 5-1.

The Blue and White cut into the deficit with a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning off the bat of senior Tristan Largent (Verona, Wis.) to plate senior Daniel Hahn (Cudahy, Wis.).

Benedictine added two more runs in the eighth inning to elevate the lead to 7-2.

The Falcons did not fold and fought back in the bottom half of the inning. Senior Johannes Haakenson (Janesville, Wis.) started the rally with a double to left-center field to land Brynden Cleveland and Matt Miller on home plate.

Daniel Hahn then singled to center field to score Johannes Haakenson.

Freshman Tyler Bartczak (Crestwood, Ill.) had six strikeouts in the start.

Daniel Hahn finished with a game-high three hits.

The 7-5 loss ended the hopes for a spot in the NACC Tournament.

The Eagles struck first again in game two on Sunday with a run in the top of the first inning.

The Blue and White responded with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.

Junior Jimmy Juergensen (Cedarburg, Wis.) started the spree with a double into right-center field that scored Johannes Haakenson.

Tristan Largent notched a sacrifice fly to send home Daniel Hahn.

Sophomore Kyle Flynn (Nashville, Tenn.) then doubled through the right side to score Jimmy Juergensen.

In the third inning, senior Sean Tillmon (Plainfield, Ill.) homered over the fence in left field to also score Daniel Hahn.

Benedictine took a bite out of the lead with two runs in the fifth inning.

The sixth inning saw Daniel Hahn single to left field to plate Matt Miller

Senior Brandon Niedfeldt (Roscoe, Ill.) ended the scoring on Sunday in the eighth inning on a single through the left side to score Daniel Hahn.

The 7-3 victory sends the Falcons into the offseason on a high note.

Sophomore Zach Slome (Schaumberg, Ill.) finished with nine strikeouts in the victory.

Johannes Haakenson and Matt Miller both stole a base in the victory.

Daniel Hahn led game two with three hits.

The Falcons will return to play in the spring of 2024.
