
Baseball Run Rules St. John’s
TUCSON, Ariz. – The Concordia Wisconsin baseball team beat St. John's University 17-7 in the final game in Arizona. With the win, the Falcons improve to 8-5, going 8-1 on their Tucson road trip.
In the first inning, the Johnnies were able to scratch one run of an RBI base hit to the right field, taking the 1-0 lead.
SJU was able to extend their lead in the top of the second inning, scoring two more runs courtesy of an RBI double and a fielder's choice RBI.
The Falcons were able to score one run in the bottom of the second when senior Johannes Haakenson (Janesville, Wis.) was walked with bases loaded. Entering the third inning, the Falcons found themselves down 3-1.
In the top of the third inning, senior starting pitcher Ryan Green (Green Bay, Wis.) held the Johnnies scoreless.
The Falcons were able to tie the game 3-3 in the third inning. Senior Sean Tillmon (Plainfield, Ill.) led off the inning with a single. Then, junior Jimmy Juergensen (Cedarburg, Wis.) hit a double to deep center field, scoring Tillmon from first base. Later in the inning, senior Dillan Fike (Oak Lawn, Ill.) hit an RBI groundout to the right side of the field.
The Johnnies retook the lead in the fourth inning with a two-run home run.
CUW responded with one run in their half of the inning when Jimmy Juergensen hit an RBI single, scoring senior Daniel Hahn (Cudahy, Wis.), who was walked earlier in the inning.
After the fourth inning, the score favored St. John's 5-4.
In the fifth inning, Ryan Green kept SJU scoreless once again.
The Falcons took control of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning when they scored eight runs, giving them the 12-5 lead highlighted by a 3-RBI triple from Daniel Hahn, a 2-RBI single from freshman Matt Miller (Fredonia, Wis.) and a two-run shot from sophomore Kyle Flynn (Nashville, Tenn.).
In the sixth inning, the Johnnies put up their last two runs of the game when they hit a two-run home run, cutting the Falcons' lead to 12-7.
In their half of the inning, Concordia Wisconsin added one more run off a solo home run from Daniel Hahn.
Junior Ben Spiers (Waukesha, Wis.) kept SJU scoreless in the top of the seventh.
The Falcons added four runs in the seventh inning courtesy of a 2-RBI triple from senior Tristan Largent (Verona, Wis.), an RBI single from senior Cole Aguirre (Chino Hills, Calif.) and an RBI single from Daniel Hahn, bringing the scoring to 17-7, triggering a run-rule, giving CUW their eighth win of the season.
Starting pitcher Ryan Green finished the day with seven strikeouts in five innings pitched, earning his first win of the season. Daniel Hahn had a monster day on the offensive end, finishing with four hits and five RBIs. Jimmy Juergensen also added three hits and three RBIs. Meanwhile, Dillan Fike, Tristan Largent, and Cole Aguirre all had two hits and at least one RBI.
The Falcons will take on Division I UW-Milwaukee on Tuesday, March 21st, at 3 PM.
