Women's Track and Field Finishes Fifth at Dubuque Spartans Invite

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The CUW women's track and field team competed in the Dubuque Spartan Invite on Saturday.

The Blue and White finished in fifth place with 62 points. Central College finished with an event-high 132 points.

Junior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.) led the Falcons in the 60-meter dash with a ninth-place finish and a time of 8.27 seconds. Senior Jenna Zahorik (Reedsville, Wis.) finished in 13th place with a time of 8.31 seconds and Freshman Ema Williquette (Jackson, Wis.) finished in 29th place with a time of 9.17 seconds.

Zahorik led the Falcons in the 200-meter dash and found the podium with a third-place finish and a time of 27.27 seconds. Moore was close behind with a time of 28.58 seconds and a 15th-place finish. Senior Madison Chiappetta (Lenexa, Kan.) finished in 30th place with a time of 30.30. Senior Kaitlynn Sabish (Campbellsport, Wis.) rounded out the Blue and White with a 33rd-place finish at 34.80 seconds.

The Falcons claimed 11th, 12th, and 13th place in the 400-meter run with freshman Amber Fietzer (Manawa, Wis.), freshman Danielle Van Grinsven (Appleton, Wis.), and Chiappetta recording times of 1:07.86, 1:07.99, and 1:08.18.

Freshman Elizabeth Van Rixel (Athens, Wis.) competed in the 800-meter run and placed 14th with a time of 2:43.07.

In the mile run, freshman Ainara Sainz de Rosas (Madrid, Spain) finished in 14th place with a time of 5:44.20.

Six Falcons competed in the 3,000-meter run. Freshman Melanie Arvis (Berwyn, Ill.) and junior Anessa Yim (Spokane, Wash.) found the podium with second and third-place finishes recording times of 10:49.71 and 11:01.09. Coming in fourth place was freshman Abby Poehlman (Hubertus, Wis.) with a time of 11:14.63 and senior Micah Hill (Camdenton, Mo.) came in eighth place with a time of 11:59.56. Rounding out the Falcons in 11th and 13th places were junior Abby Van Rixel (Athens, Wis.) and freshman Ashley Mayer (Kaukauna, Wis.) with times of 12:13.00 and 12:32.94.

Sophomore Maya Hielscher (Macomb, Mich.) claimed a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.59 seconds.

The team of senior Rosa Roloff (Trevor, Wis.), Sainz de Rozas, Elizabeth Van Rixel, and Van Grinsven finished the 4x400-meter relay in 4:51.71 and claimed 11th place.

The high jump saw freshman Amelia Wiener (North Fond Du Lac, Wis.) and senior Aubrey Thiede (Slinger, Wis.) place seventh and ninth with heights of 1.38 meters and 1.33 meters.

Five Falcons competed in the pole vault with freshman Carly Griesemer (Slinger, Wis.) claiming team-first with a seventh-place finish and a mark of 2.85 meters. Senior Paige Winterfeldt (Roseville, Minn.) finished with the same mark in one more try for an eighth-place finish. With a height of 2.55 meters and a ninth-place finish was Kaitlyn Kotula. Rounding out the Blue and White was senior MaryGrace Cleinmark (Danvers, Ill.) and Williquette with 11th and 13th place finishes and marks of 2.00 meters and 1.80 meters.

The long jump saw Hielscher find the podium once again with a second-place finish and a mark of 5.16 meters. Sophomore Kalleigh Schroeder (Bonduel, Wis.) finished with a mark of 4.58 meters which was good for sixth place. Moore finished with a jump of 4.54 meters for an eighth-place finish. Thiede finished in 11th place with a 4.22-meter jump. Junior Catherine Romine (Whitmore Lake, Mich.) finished in 15th place with a mark of 4.04 meters and Wiener finished with a jump of 3.87 meters and a 16th-place finish.

Kotula, Schroeder, Winterfeldt, and Schroeder finished in eighth, ninth, 10th, and 11th places in the triple jump with jumps of 9.63 meters, 9.30 meters, 9.05 meters, and 8.61 meters respectively.

Both freshmen Rebecca Ogg (Winthrop Harbor, Ill.) and Maria Betancourt (Hialeah, Fla.) competed in the shot put and weight throw. Ogg finished with a 23rd-place finish in both the weight throw and shot put with marks of 7.05 and 7.25 meters respectively. Betancourt finished with a 24th-place finish and a 7.18-meter mark in the shot put.

The Blue and White continue their season at the Ripon Red Hawk Invite.
