Kurek, Peppers earned MLWC weekly accolades

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin's Allison Kurek and Hayley Peppers were named Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, the league office announced on Monday.

Kurek (freshman, Chicago, Ill.) led the Falcons to three road victories last week. The rookie led the team with 21 points (14 goals, seven assists), 13 ground balls, 28 draw control wins and six caused turnovers. Kurek paced CUW with seven points (four goals, three assists), eight ground balls, eight draw control wins and two caused turnovers in a thrilling 21-20 overtime victory at North Central. She then recorded six points (four goals, two assists), three ground balls and seven draw control wins during a convincing 21-7 MWLC win at Illinois Institute of Technology. Kurek finished the difficult week with a career-high eight points (six goals, two assists), two ground balls, program record 13 draw control wins and four caused turnovers.

It was the first MWLC Offensive Player of the Week honor of Kurek's career and fourth conference weekly accolade of her career.

Peppers (Franktown, Colo.) was an offensive force in CUW's three-game winning streak last week. She had 16 draw control wins and five caused turnovers, to go along with 14 points (13 goals, one assist). Peppers led the Falcons with four caused turnovers and won six draw controls, as well as scoring four goals (one free-position) during a thrilling 21-20 overtime win at North Central. She then won seven draw controls, picked up one ground ball and scored four goals during a 21-7 MWLC win over Illinois Institute of Technology. Peppers finished the week by winning three draw controls and causing a turnover, while scoring five goals and assisting on a marker during a 24-8 regular season finale win at Augsburg.

The weekly MWLC honor is the first of the season for Peppers and the second of her career.
