Clarkson defeats Women's Lacrosse on spring trip

BRADENTON, Fla. – Concordia University Wisconsin couldn't slow down Clarkson University on Wednesday, as the Golden Knights scored eight-consecutive goals to start the game before winning 12-4 during the 18th Annual Spring Fling.

The Falcons defense couldn't slow down the Golden Knights, who scored eight-straight goals to start the game. Both teams exchanged three goals in the second half, but it didn't matter because of the 10-goal deficit CUW found itself in with nearly 18 minutes to play in the game.

CUW (1-2) finished just 1-of-6 on free-position attempts and was outshot 27-16 overall and 22-13 on goal. Clarkson ended 11-of-11 on clear attempts, while the Falcons were 5-of-6. The Golden Knights also held a slight 21-17 edge in ground balls.

Freshman Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill.) paced the Falcons with two goals, seven ground balls, five draw control wins and a caused turnover. Senior Hayley Peppers (Franktown, Colo.) and freshman Amanda McKay (Portland, Ore.) also scored. Sophomore Veronika Metanova (Palatine, Ill.) took the loss in goal, but did make 10 saves.

Christine Wright led all players with three goals and three assists, while three other Golden Knights found the back of the net twice. Paige Fayette and Danielle Faivus each picked up three ground balls. Dani Tani earn the win between the pipes and made nine saves.

CUW completes its spring break trip with a Thursday contest against Mount Holyoke College.
