Brekke earns CoSIDA Academic All-District honors

Junior Emily Brekke has delivered an outstanding season in the circle for the Concordia University Wisconsin Softball team this season. In addition to being one of the top pitchers in the NACC, Brekke also gets it done in the classroom and was recognized as a 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District selection Thursday.

Brekke (Waterford, Wis.) was the only NACC player to be chosen to the All-District team for District 6, which features only NCAA Division III players from Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Four NACC players from Illinois were chosen as District 7 honorees.

Brekke finished the regular season with a 17-6 record and a 1.27 ERA. She enters the NACC Tournament ranked second in the conference in ERA (1.27) and strikeouts (143). She had a strong opening game in the tournament as well, throwing a two-hit shutout.

Brekke is also an exceptional student, another qualification for the CoSIDA recognition. In order to qualify to be nominated a student-athlete must have a 3.30 cumulative GPA. The junior Pre-Pharmacy Major has a 3.82 GPA and will be beginning Pharmacy school next fall.

The Falcons ace is now eligible for the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-American ballot. Each All-District from the eight regions advances to the All-American ballot.
