Tyrpak's overtime goal gives Men's Soccer win over Benedictine

MEQUON, Wis. – It took just 25 seconds into overtime for the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Soccer team to break a scoreless tie in a 1-0 win over Benedictine Saturday afternoon. Freshman Cristian Typrak provided the heroics with the game-winning score, helping the Falcons down the defending NACC Tournament Champions.

THE BASICS
- Final Score: Concordia Wisconsin 1, Benedictine 0
- Location: Fitting Field – Mequon, Wisconsin
- Records: CUW 3-2-3, 2-0-0 NACC; Benedictine 6-3-0, 1-1-0 NACC

TYRPAK AND YEAGER POSTMATCH

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons wouldn't have been in overtime without an outstanding performance by Nate Yeager (Rio Rancho, N.M.). Yeager made five saves but stopped several crosses and other Eagles scoring chances as well. Four of his saves came in the second half, all four on excellent opportunities for the Eagles.

- Tyrpak (Hartford, Wis.) scored for the second straight match and now has two career collegiate goals. The freshman took a pass from Colin Dibb (Hartland, Wis.) and had a wide-open net to tap the ball into, allowing the Falcons to celebrate a big NACC win.

- The match featured outstanding defense by both teams as scoring chances were hard to come by. The Falcons did a tremendous job limiting reigning NACC Player of the Year Nick Kapetanos' scoring chances by using a variety of different players on him throughout the match.

- Anti Marti Polo made four saves for Benedictine, two in each half.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The overtime win was the first for CUW since September 14 of last season. The Falcons defeated St. Mary's and St. Norbert in back-to-back overtime wins last season.

- Yeager recorded his second shutout of the season. His other clean sheet came in the Falcons season-opener when he made five saves in a 2-0 win over Concordia Ann Arbor.
