Men's Lacrosse overwhelms Dubuque in road victory

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Concordia Wisconsin's offense was in rhythm from the opening faceoff, scoring the game's first nine goals en route to a dominating 19-5 non-conference victory at Dubuque. The Falcons also scored a program record eight man-up goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons piled on the goals early and often against the Spartans, taking a 9-0 lead with just under two minutes to play before halftime. They outshot the hosts by a wide 32-9 margin in the first half.
- CUW took advantage of a huge Dubuque mistake when a player was ejected by scoring eight man-up scores in the second half.
- As well, the Falcons ended with a 51-21 difference in shots (34-14 on goal), 41-22 lead in ground balls and turned the ball over just nine times.
- Seniors Marino Best (Nanaimo, British Columbia) and Matt Garvey (Winnipeg, Manitoba) each had a hat trick, while Garvey assisted on a trio of scores.
- Freshman Warren Kaminsky (Winnipeg, Manitoba) assisted on three scores to help the Falcons balanced offensive attack.
- Freshman Jack Melby (Eagan, Minn.) picked up a career-best six ground balls and 13 faceoff wins on 17 attempts. Senior Zachary Foster (Calgary, Alberta) recorded six ground balls.
- Freshman Garrett Wohlford (Rochester, Minn.) made six saves during 30 minutes of way before freshman Max Schramm (Edwards, Colo.) had three saves in the second half. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The road win the in the third-consecutive for CUW, who has outscored opponents 49-23 during the stretch.
- CUW's eight man-up scores sets a single game program record.
- Freshman Mario Baregi (Champlin, Minn.) netted the first goal of his career with less than minutes gone by in the game. Junior Shane Pech (Round Lake Beach, Ill.) also found the back of the net for the first time of his career with 2:11 remaining in the game.
- Foster and freshman Colin Hoch (Lino Lakes, Minn.) each tied a career-high with two goals. Hoch also picked up a career-high four ground balls.

THE OPPOSITION
- Josh Berey-Wingate had a pair of goals for the Spartans, while three of his teammates had a marker.
- Berey-Wingate also won 10 faceoffs and picked up eight ground balls.
- Kyle Mullins had 15 saves in a complete game losing effort in goal.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons return home for the final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday against Carthage, which is scheduled to start at 4 pm.
