Illinois Wesleyan outscores Falcons in second half

MEQUON, Wis. – Illinois Wesleyan put together an impressive 13-3 scoring run over the final 39 minutes of action on Wednesday afternoon to defeat Concordia Wisconsin, 15-8, in non-conference play at Fitting Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons jumped out in front 5-2 after 20 minutes of play and appeared to have swayed the momentum in their favor. However, Illinois Wesleyan had other plans and scored the final three goals before halftime to knot the scoreboard at 5-5.
- The Titans – who entered as the nation's highest scoring team – piled on 10 goals in the second half, including four within a three minute and 22 second span midway through the third quarter to take control.
- Freshman Stephen Gregory (Louisville, Ky.) ended the contest with a career-high five points (hat trick and two assists), while also causing two turnovers.
- Senior Marino Best (Nanaimo, British Columbia) added a pair of goals, and senior Matt Garvey (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and junior James Warner (Ham Lake, Minn.) each had a goal and an assist. Freshman Colin Hoch (Lino Lakes, Minn.) also scored.
- Senior Danny Bundra (Lake Zurich, Ill.) won 15-of-26 faceoffs and picked up eight ground balls, while freshman Garrett Wohlford (Rochester, Minn.) had 19 saves and five ground balls.
- The Falcons scored 2-of-7 chances with a man-up and caused 14 turnovers. Both teams combined for 97 shots, including 58 on goal.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Wohlford's 19 saves are the second most in a game in program history, second to his 21 save performance a week-and-a-half ago.
- CUW is now 4-3 during non-conference play, with games against Dubuque and Carthage on the schedule over the next week to be played before returning to Midwest Lacrosse Conference action.

THE OPPOSITION
- Michael Julius and Jacob Perry each scored four times for the Titans, while Nick Winter had three goals and two assists. Will Rossi and Max Porter each added a pair of scores.
- Porter caused a game-best four turnovers and a team-high five ground balls. Three Titans had two caused turnovers each.
- Steven Laduzinsky made 16 saves in a complete game winning effort.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons travel to Dubuque for a 4 pm non-conference matchup on Saturday.
