Falcons tally pair of goals in fourth to down Olivet

OLIVET, Mich. – A pair of goals in the fourth quarter was enough for Concordia Wisconsin to separate itself for a 12-10 road non-conference victory over Olivet on Saturday at the Cutler Athletic Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons scored two goals in the fourth period and the final three goals in the contest to capture their first win of the season. They finished with a commanding 45-26 shots advantage, including a 26-17 difference in shots on goal.
- There were six lead changes and five scoring ties in the back-and-forth contest. Colin Raley found the back of the net with eight minutes to play in the game for the game-winner. In the fourth quarter CUW's defense forced eight Olivet turnovers and limited their chances.
- The Falcons had their best quarter in the second set of 15 minutes, as they won 9-of-11 faceoffs and scored six goals to enter the locker room at halftime tied 7-7. They also finished the game with a decisive 34-22 lead in ground balls.
- CUW also cleared 14-of-16 attempts and held Olivet to just 18-of-25 successes on the clear.
- Senior Marino Best (Nanaimo, British Columbia) led all goal scorers with four, to go along with an assist. Junior Colin Raley (Inverness, Ill.) and freshman Stephen Gregory (Louisville, Ky.) each added a pair of goals.
- Senior Danny Bundra (Lake Zurich, Ill.) picked up a game-high seven ground balls and won 19-of-26 faceoffs.
- Senior Mark Wilson (Calgary, Alberta) and junior Benjamin Smith (Round Lake Beach, Ill.) each had a pair of caused turnovers.
- Freshman Garrett Wohlford (Rochester, Minn. made seven saves in a complete game winning effort.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons are 2-1 against Olivet and in each of the two victories they scored at least 12 goals.
- Bundra's 19 faceoff wins are tied for the fifth most in a game in program history.
- Freshman Eric Carrolan (Pleasanton, Calif.) scored his first career goal with 14 seconds to play in the third period.
- Freshman Aidan Connolly (Grayslake, Ill.) also scored his first career with 12 minutes to play in the second quarter.
- Freshman Omar Nijmeh (Kingston, Penn.) tallied his first career goal with a minute to play before halftime.
- Smith tied his career-high with five ground balls.

THE OPPOSITION
- Logan Krieger led the Comets with a hat trick, while Dakota Badder added two goals and an assist.
- Five other Comets also had a goal and Cullen Haesler picked up a team-best five ground balls.
-Ryan McGee recorded 14 saves in a complete game losing effort.
