No. 11 Denison defeats Men's Lacrosse

GRANVILLE, Ohio – No. 11 Denison University scored early and often en route to an 18-4 non-conference victory over Concordia University Wisconsin in a men's lacrosse matchup on Friday evening.

The Big Red tallied five goals in the opening period and six in the second quarter to take a commanding 11-1 lead at halftime. DU (2-1) added five more goals in the third frame to hold a 16-3 lead after 45 minutes of action.

CUW's (1-2) defense couldn't slow down DU's attack, as it was outshot 54-16. The Big Red also had a 51-24 advantage in ground balls, 18-of-24 faceoffs and were 16-of-16 in clear attempts.

Sophomore Derek Brueske (Hopkins, Minn.) scored the Falcons lone goal in the opening half, while junior Sam Wladyka (Winnipeg, Manitoba) scored twice in the third quarter. Freshman Tyson Roe (Duncan, British Columbia) scored his fourth goal of the season in the final period.

Chapin Speidel led all players with four goals, which were scored in the first half. Three DU players also added two goals in the victory.

CUW returns to the field on Mar. 9 and 10 for back-to-back road games at Ablion College and Alma College.
