ACHA Hockey Glides Past Roosevelt in Hap Cup Quarterfinals

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Concordia Wisconsin ACHA Hockey team tallied a win in its first contest of the NCHL Hap Cup, picking up a decisive 7-1 victory over the Roosevelt. Freshman Chuck Emme (Glenview, Ill.) notched his sixth hat trick of the season in the outing, contributing three goals for the Falcons.

Roosevelt opened the scoring midway through the first period, however, senior John Swiatek (Rochester, N.Y.) evened the game for the Falcons, finding the back of the net just under five minutes later.

The 1-1 tie would be carried into the first intermission, but Concordia managed to take a commanding lead in the game over the following 20 minutes. Senior Trenton Sherman (Farmington, Minn.) followed up on his own netfront rebound to grant the Falcons the lead 4:55 into the middle frame, while Emme notched his first goal of the game just minutes later, fighting off two Roosevelt defenders en route to the net.

Emme picked up another goal before the end of the period, claiming his second of the game on a wrist shot from the slot.

He secured a natural hat trick for Concordia 34 seconds into the third period, burying a rebound to put the Falcons ahead 5-1.

Senior defenseman Rex Staudacher (Yorkville, Ill.) found Concordia's sixth goal of the game just under four minutes later, and Sherman notched his second of the game in the final minute of play, burying a centering pass from Emme.

Freshman goaltender Jackson Reda (Orland Park, Ill.) totaled 12 saves on 13 shots faced.

The Falcons will be back in action on Saturday in the NCHL Hap Cup Semifinals against the Sabres of Marian.
