ACHA Hockey Falls to No. 7 Liberty

OXFORD, Ohio – The Concordia ACHA hockey team met the No. 7 Liberty Flames in its second contest at the Oxford Showcase, falling 6-2 in the Saturday night matchup.

Senior Easton Williams (Racine, Wis.) tallied the game's opening goal on the power play, granting Concordia the lead with just under nine minutes remaining in the first period. Freshman Chuck Emme (Glenview, Ill.) and senior Lucas Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) notched assists on the tally, which proved to be the lone goal of the opening frame.

Liberty submitted the scorecard's only entries of the second period, finding the back of the net four times to take control of the game. The Concordia penalty kill prevented any further scoring, nullifying two power play attempts for the Flames.

Liberty padded their lead early in the third, as Antonio Vidal granted the Flames a 5-1 advantage.

Emme cut into the lead off of a feed from senior defenseman Rex Staudacher (Yorkville, Ill.) late in the third period to secure his 16th multi-point performance of the season. However, the late comeback effort proved to be of no avail, as an added insurance goal for Liberty cemented a 6-2 Flames victory.

The Falcons will be back in action on Sunday, January 21 against the No. 15 Sault Cougars. Concordia took the teams' first meeting in October by a 6-4 score.
