ACHA Hockey Topped By No. 1 Lindenwood

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – The Concordia ACHA hockey team fell to No. 1-ranked Lindenwood on Friday night, dropping to 15-6-1 in the 2023-24 campaign. The contest saw the Lions secure their second win of the season series, as the two squads split their first two meetings in early November.

Offensively, Lindenwood was led by Brett Robinson, who recorded 4 points in the effort, including three of the Lions' 12 goals. Zac Maupin and Anthony Tinsley also contributed multi-goal performances.

Senior forward Ian Malcolmson (Waukesha, Wis.) thwarted Lindenwood's shutout attempt late in the third period, rifling the puck into the Lions' goal after a toe drag opened a shooting lane. Junior Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.) recorded an assist on the play.

Concordia's penalty kill operated at 100% on the evening, stopping both of Lindenwood's power play opportunities.

Senior Vincent Falcone (Elgin, Ill.), freshman Fred Roufs (Sioux Falls, S.D.), and freshman Ryley Gross (Hazenmore, Sask.) split ice time for the Falcons in the goal crease, recording 21, 18, and 4 saves, respectively.

Friday night's game marked the first of three contests for the Falcons at the JOG Winter Classic, where they will face the 4-11 Trine Thunder on Saturday afternoon. Concordia holds the advantage in the season series, having topped the Thunder twice in their opening two matchups.
