Falcons Come Up Short Against Badgers

MEQUON, Wis. - The Concordia Wisconsin ACHA hockey team dropped to the Wisconsin Badgers on Friday night by a 6-4 score. Freshman Chuck Emme (Glenview, Ill.) contributed four goals for the Falcons to mark his third four-goal performance of the season.

Emme opened the game's scoring on the man advantage just under five minutes into the first period. Recording assists on the play were senior Easton Williams (Racine, Wis.) and junior Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.), who would go on to tally an additional helper to mark a multi-point performance.

Justin Schneider tied the game for the Badgers in the early going of the second frame, but Emme snatched the lead right back, tallying his second goal of the game on the power play just 2:03 later.

Schneider went on to collect a pair of goals over the following minutes, flipping the lead to read in the Badgers' favor.

Emme countered the hat trick with 3:42 remaining in the second period, finding the back of the net after an offensive zone faceoff for his third score of the night.

As the two squads entered the final period of play with the score squared at three, Jordan Bachman broke the tie for Wisconsin, while Jonathan Gatewood doubled the lead 43 seconds later.

Emme cut the deficit back down to one in the minutes that followed, but the comeback attempt fell just shy, as the Badgers picked up an empty-net goal to ice the match, winning 6-4.

Senior netminder Ian Robertson (Calgary, Alta.) tallied 34 saves for Concordia in the outing.

The Falcons will get a second crack at the Badgers on Saturday morning.
