A look Back at the Women's Cross Country Season

MEQUON, Wis. - The CUW women's cross country posted a solid 2022 season in the fall. In total, the Falcons competed in the six races.

The Falcons' highest finish came at the Ken Weidt Classic on Saturday, September 10, where the Falcons took third place with 87 team points as eight different runners claimed a top 50 spot. In that race, CUW was led by freshman Ainara Sainz De Rozas (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.), who took 20th place at 24:45.7, while senior Micah Hill (Camdenton, Mo.) had a time of 25:48.6 in 33rd place.

Two weeks following their performance, on October 15, the Falcons claimed fourth place at the Wisconsin Private College Championships with 107 team points as a trio of Falcons claimed Third-Team All-State honors. Junior Anessa Yim (Spokane, Wash.) led the flock in 20th place at 25:10.3, with fellow CUW runner Ainara Sainz De Rozas taking 21st with a time of 25:15.6. Then, in 22nd, was freshman Melanie Arvis (Berwyn, Ill.) with a time of 25:26.9. 

At the NACC Championships, CUW took fifth place with 112 team points as Anessa Yim claimed All-NACC honors and took sixth place with a time of 24:35.9.

The Falcons will officially begin competing on September 2 at St. Norbert College to kick off their 2023 season.
