Cross Country Teams and Bartel Earn Academic Honors

MEQUON, Wis. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its All-Academic Teams and All-Academic Athletes for the 2021 NCAA Division III Cross Country season on Thursday.

"I could not be more proud of all the hard work all our student-athletes put into their academics," said head coach Russ De Lap. "What a great achievement as a team and I love the team culture on the cross country team. Our team is succeeding on multiple levels, all due to their commitment to both academics and athletics."

Both of the cross country teams earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors. The Concordia women posted a combined grade-point average of 3.62 and the CUW men finished with a 3.68 grade-point average. The men's GPA is tied for the 15th-best in NCAA Division III.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.

Overall, there were 137 men's and 163 women's programs that were named All-Academic Teams for their efforts during the 2021 season.

Senior LaNea Bartel (Kewaunee, Wis.) was also named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete.

Overall, there were 203 women from 105 different institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes for their efforts during the 2021 season.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
