Falcons get a final tune-up before NACC Championships

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The CUW women's track & field team competed at the UWO Titan Challenge on Saturday afternoon for one last meet before the NACC Indoor Track & Field Championships. The Falcons finished in 11th place out of 14 schools from NCAA Divisions II and III. The Blue and White finished with six points, with Wisconsin-Eau Claire winning the competition with 18 points.

Junior LaNea Bartel (Kewaunee, Wis.) scored four points for CUW in the mile run in fifth place with a time of 5:24.39. Sophomore Mackenzie Larsen (Appleton, Wis.) finished in 10th place at 5:34.96.

Junior Alden Goucher (Port Charlotte, Fla.) secured a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash at 1:01.67. She also notched a 15th-place finish in the long jump at 4.83 meters.

Junior Megan Curran (Spring Grove, Ill.) had a mark of 15.30 meters in the weight throw for a 10th-place finish and a 14th-place mark of 11.79 meters in the shot put.

The high jump saw senior Nicole Veldhorst (Cedar Grove, Wis.) take 11th place at 1.53 meters. She also had an 11th-place mark of 10.27 meters in the triple jump.

Freshman Hannah Ebel (Mount Clemens, Mich.) led CUW in the 60-meter hurdles in 22nd place at 10.86.

Junior Megan Sprinkman (Kohler, Wis.) secured a 26th-place finish in the 60-meter dash at 8.42. She also had the fastest CUW time in the 200-meter dash in 30th-place at 27.99.

The Falcons closed the day in the 4x400 meter relay in ninth place. The team of freshman Lindsay Pluister (Woodridge, Ill.), Mackenzie Larsen, LaNea Bartel and freshman Madison Chiappetta (Lenexa, Kan.) clocked in at 4:28.61.

The Blue and White will compete at the NACC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, hosted by the Falcons.
