Women’s Track & Field soars at Ripon

RIPON, Wis. – The CUW women's track & field team finished in fifth place at the Ripon Red Hawk Invitational on Saturday. CUW finished with 43.5 points on the day. St. Norbert had the most of the 12 teams with 178.5 points.

Sophomore Jordyn Schmidt (Manitowoc, Wis.) soared in the high jump on Saturday with a second-place finish at 1.51 meters.

Junior Megan Curran (Spring Grove, Ill.) finished in second place in the weight throw at 15.32 meters and fourth place in the shot put at 11.95 meters.

Junior Alden Goucher (Port Charlotte, Fla.) led the flock in the triple jump in fourth place at 10.71 meters and in the 400-meter dash in eighth place at 1:02.78.

CUW finished fifth in the 4x400 meter relay. The team of junior Megan Sprinkman (Kohler, Wis.), junior LaNea Bartel (Kewaunee, Wis.), freshman Madison Chiappetta (Lenexa, Kan.) and Alden Goucher earned a time of 4:28.76.

Sophomore Mackenzie Larsen (Appleton, Wis.) locked in a sixth-place finish in the 5000-meter run at 20:15.70.

Freshman Paige Winterfeldt (Roseville, Minn.) picked up a sixth-place finish at pole vault at 2.74 meters.

The CUW women finished in sixth place in the 4x200 meter relay. The team of freshman Jenna Zahorik (Reedsville, Wis.), freshman Lindsay Pluister (Woodridge, Ill.), freshman Hannah Ebel (Mount Clemens, Mich.) and Megan Sprinkman crossed the finish line at 1:54.38.

LaNea Bartel crossed the finish line at 2:31.31 in the 800-meter dash in eighth place.

Senior Kathryn Schultz (Fredonia, Wis.) posted a mark of 4.25 meters at long jump in 10th place.

Megan Sprinkman secured a 10th-place finish in the 60-meter dash at 8.37.

Hannah Ebel finished in 14th place in the 60-meter hurdles at 10.82.

Freshman Sadie Silva led CUW in the 200-meter dash in 24th place at 29.46.

The Falcons will compete on Saturday at the UW-Platteville Invitational.
