Marcus Lubner (So., Fredonia, WI) placed 6th at 133 lbs. saturday to lead the CUW wrestlers at the NCAA III Great Lakes Regional held at Lakeland College. Lubner went 3-3 on the day, including a dramatic 9-8 come-from-behind win over #4 seed Jake Denhof of Elmhurst. Lubner also scored two falls over Ian Peppel of St. Olaf and Aaron Downs of Maranatha Baptist.

Down 8-6 against Denhof with 10 seconds remaining, Lubner put Denhof on his back for a 3-pt. nearfall to win 9-8. Lubner trailed in the entire match until the very end. Lubner finished the season 19-13.

Seth Kilkelly (Fr., Mt. Horeb, WI) was 2-2 at 197 lbs., and lost a tight 9-5 decision to North Central's #4 Andrew Bradley to get into the place rounds.

Alec Silva (Fr., El Paso, TX) lost a 11-5 decision to Chicago's Jake Schramm to enter the place rounds.

David Tuomi (So., Wheaton, IL) at 149 and Josh Nord (Sr., Oconomowoc, WI) at 174 each went 1-2 at the tournament to help the Falcons place 13th. Augsburg College won the meet and qualified five to the NCAA III National Tournament, and St. John's placed second, qualifying seven wrestlers.

"This experience will help our young team," commented Head Coach Bret Corner. "We made big improvements throughout the season, and we will continue the hard work in the off-season. We did not get any national qualifiers, but that will be a goal in the near future."
