Falcons Fight in NACC Tournament Finals

MONTGOMERY, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's lacrosse program returned to its first conference title game on Saturday afternoon for the first time since 2017. The Falcons fell to the top-seeded Spartans of Aurora in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Finals, 18-4.

Freshman Ella Maltby (Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich.) started the scoring for the Falcons in the final minute of the first quarter after she charged the net off a pass from the NACC Freshman of the Year, Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.)

Sophomore Natalie Mackrell (Stuttgart, Germany) scored on a free position shot in the second quarter.

Eight seconds later, Katelyn Cardinale found the back of the net.

Ella Maltby scored the final CUW goal of the game in the fourth quarter on a free-position shot.

The Spartans held a 35-18 advantage in shots on Saturday. Natalie Mackrell finished with three shots for the Falcons.

Sophomore Brenna Bieniek (Shakopee, Minn.) led CUW with five ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Junior Eliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.) had three of the eight draw controls for CUW.

Sophomore Madisen Myers (Rosemount, Minn.) posted 10 saves.

The Falcons got back on track in 2023 and finished at 9-8 on the year and 5-1 in NACC play. 2023 marked the first winning season since 2019 and the best conference finish since 2017.

The birds look to soar once again in the spring of 2024.
