Falcons Fall to Pioneers

WAUKESHA, Wis. - The CUW women's lacrosse team continued their non-conference slate with a matchup against the Carroll Pioneers.

The Falcons scored first with an unassisted goal from junior Eliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.).

Carroll tied the game at one.

Freshman Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.) added to the Falcon's tally.

The Pioneers gained the lead with a score of 3-2.

Cardinale tied the matchup with a free-position shot.

The Pioneers netted 10 goals straight spanning the rest of the first and most of the second quarter to take the 13-3 lead.

Cardinale recorded a hat trick with just under one minute remaining in the half off an assist from senior Bela Noyle (Baltimore, Md.).

Carroll opened the second half with three goals.

Freshman Ella Maltby (Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich.) netted a birthday goal for the fourth Falcon goal.

The Pioneers finished the third quarter with a goal.

Cardinale found Maltby for another goal to open the final frame.

Carroll netted three more goals to take a 20-6 lead including a man-up goal.

Junior Olivia Niego (La Grange, Ill.) netted the second free-position shot for the Falcons on the man-up opportunity.

Cardinale led the Blue and White with four points including two goals and one assist.

The Falcons open the home portion of the season with a matchup against St. Benedict.
